I wooted today. And I'm proud of it. Even got the sticker to prove it.
What, you say? Did I "vote" today?
Nope, did that last week. This is more important.
Let me introduce you to Woot.com, Home of the Famous Woot-Off!
What is "woot" you say? Dear Lordie, how could you not know?
Really? You're not a complete technogeek? Oh, well then, let me tell all y'all all about it, as explained to me recently by a geek friend.
Woot puts out one product every night at midnight (CST). 11pm my time. If I'm within 1/2 hour of that, I'll stay up to see what the woot is.
It's shopping for guys. With technology, great deals 'n' steals, and competition. There's only so many that they have, and once they're gone that's it, the Woot is done for the day.
And shipping is always $5, no matter what the product is. Headphones? $5. Optical mouse? $5. Flat screen television? $5.
Sometimes a product is new (like today's). Sometimes it's refurbished. It's almost always a reallllllly good deal. The discussion that accompanies a new product always has posts which give all the info. What's it selling for on Amazon? Can you get it? Are the features good? Does it work? etc...
Today's woot? Why, it's the iRobot Roomba Discovery SE!

I found all the answers to my questions on the discussion board. Is it a good deal? Does it do dog hair? How does it work? Handles rugs? Re-charges itself? etc....
Then... perhaps every 3 or 4 months... a flashing light (a la Kmart blue-light special) is on display signifying a Woot-Off! Which is about 50 products slapped up as fast as they are sold. One product went in about 3 minutes, another lasted 3 hours... it all depends on their inventory! It goes for 24-48 hours until everything is gone. People stay up that long...
Finally. They just started Wine.Woot.com and I've wooted that as well, sometimes a great deal and a fun way to try a new wine. Wine.Woot is about once a week, as opposed to once a day for the main woot.com.
